Little Owl
Introduced to several parts of England in the late 1800s Little Owl numbers rose, and the species spread, until found in all parts of lowland England and Wales. Being a species that hunts during the day and at dusk, as well as a bird that habitually sits out in the open, often on exposed perches. A pair of Little Owls were present at Elmley Nature Reserve, where this image was taken. They can be regularly seen early morning sitting in the windows of this derelict building, soaking up the suns warmth.
