Barn Owl in flight
This image was taken at the British Wildlife Centre and is a captive. The centre was set up to conserve native species and provide educatation. Largely nocturnal, the barn owl is a superb night hunter that uses its specialized sense of hearing and buoyant silent flight to detect prey in many types of open habitats.
