Red Kite in flight
The Red Kite was saved from national extinction by one of the world's longest-running protection programmes. It has now been successfully re-introduced to England and Scotland. They feed mainly on carrion and worms, but are opportunistic and will occasionally take small mammals.This shot of a Red Kite was taken at Windsor Great Park where it was soaring.
